Security In Five Podcast Weekly Roundup – 12/1/17

This week was an interesting one for security. Apple dropped a huge bombshell of a FAIL when it was discovered their latest update left the root account wide open. I cover this in Monday’s upcoming episode on 12/4/17. That event goes to show us all that security is never static, it’s not consistent and everyone can make a mistake that puts things a huge risk. This is why I do this podcast, why I speak at conferences and why I work hard for my clients. It’s a never ending tug of war and the more people are aware of it, they dont have to be experts, but a little knowledge about it slows things down and makes them think.

Another popular episode from the week is Episode 121 – Personal Security Tips for the Holiday Season. Fraud goes up this time of year, identity theft, property theft and crimes of opportunity. Things are busy and hectic at the stores and malls, we all need to stay sharp because there are those walking around that are not there for shopping but targeting. Unfortunate reality.

As the year wraps up I will be creating a new intro and adding a closing bumper for the episodes. I have my year end security prediction review I did in 2016 for 2017. I will also be doing my security predictions for 2018. Blog posts and podcast episodes to go over those.
