Security In Five Weekly Roundup – 10/13/17

It’s Friday the 13th. Are you scared? If you have been paying attention to the security news you should be. If the Equifax breach couldn’t get more embarrassing a new story came out yesterday that ANOTHER Equifax website was breached. Apparently one of Equifax’s website was compromised and serving malware through a phony Flash Update prompt. You’d think they would get their collective stuff together and all hands on deck. One can hope.

The Equifax, hopefully, will be a catalyst to overhaul the information security practices around the world. An example everyone will gauge themselves against. Hopefully.

This week’s podcast episodes were focused on program practices, I started a new ten episode series on the OWASP Top 10 and I do a book review for Secure Enough? By Bryce Austin. I also have a bonus episode. I received one of those tech support scam calls and quickly got my recording equipment going to catch it. I then made an episode about it to let you hear what these scam calls sound like, the tactics, the scripts they use and what they are after.
