Security In Five Weekly Roundup – 10/27/17

Another week, another weekly roundup of the Security In Five podcast. Next week I hit the 100th episode milestone. I never would have thought when I started that I would make it to 100 published episodes. On Monday’s episode, Oct. 30, 2017, I will be releasing number 100. Wow.

This week I cover the KRACK WPA2 exploitation news. Short version, update all your wireless devices, phones, routers immediately. I proceed with the OWASP Top 10 and hit number 2. I throw in a few episodes about security programs and I wrap up the week with my TTT episode and show you Spybot: Search and Destroy malware cleaner.

Through 100 episodes I have learned many things about the security industry I normally would not have crossed, I learned about podcasting in general and how to expand your reach. The entire point for the Security In Five podcast is to spread awareness, knowledge, nuggets of security tips that help people avoid the security pitfalls. Identity theft is a far more damaging and prevalent crime than people realize. I know people that have fallen for scams, had their identity stolen, tax returns filed in their names, and so on. Most of those activities could have been avoided just be knowing a little bit more than they did yesterday. Hopefully this podcast does that to someone, somewhere. Then it’s worth it.
